Description
One of two sheets of blue-coloured architectural floorplans attached together on the left side with two metal fasteners and a strip of blue paper. They are plans of the ground floor (a) and the first floor (b) of the Esquimalt, B.C. house, Dalzellowlie.
Narrative
This is one of two rolled sheets of floor plans for the house named Dalzellowlie, originally situated at 664 Head Street in Esquimalt, B.C. It was the former residence of John Cowper Bryden and Elizabeth Hamilton Dunsmuir (Mrs. John Bryden), who was the eldest daughter of Robert and Joan Dunsmuir. The plans were measured and drawn by H.D. Day, A.R.I.B.A. but are not dated. Dalzellowlie was designed by J. Gerhardt Tiarks and built in 1894. The property around the house was eventually subdivided and the house was subsequently destroyed by fire on April 3, 1945. 
History of Use
This document was preapared for P.R. Brown Ltd., a Victoria, B.C. real estate and Estate managing company that adminstered the Estate of John Cowper Bryden on behalf of his three children beneficiaries, John William Bryden, Robert Dunsmuir Bryden, and Joan Olive Bryden (Mrs. Alastair Douglas Macdonald). It was kept in a tin box with other docuuments in P.R. Brown's Victoria office until sometime after the death the last of the three aforementiond children at which point it was taken by family members to the Courtney, B.C. area.

Beneath the floorplan is a footer reading: Ground Floor Plan / No 664 Head Street - Esquimalt, V.I. B.C. At the lower left the scale is given: 1/8" Scale. At the lower right corner the architect's information is hand-written in four lines: Measured & Drawn by / H.D. Day A.R.I.B.A. / 1240 Tattersall Drive / Victoria, B.C.
