One oak or black walnut cabinet clock with hinged door glazed with clear glass with frosted fern, floral, shield and axe motifs, the cream-coloured dial with Roman numerals and hands in black, the 8-day movement with a spiral-wire gong striking on the hour and half-hour, the case's surface finish crazed and unclear, a torn label on the case's back indicating that it is a "Wayne" model by the Waterbury Clock Company. This clock was designed to be placed on a mantle or on a common "clock shelf". This style of clock was often referred to as a kitchen shelf clock. The history of use of this particular clock makes it a meaningful part of the Castle's collection. It's potential for use in presenting Craigdarroch's kitchen adds to its suitability for the Primary Collection. History of Use
This clock had a long history of use at St. Ann's Academy in Victoria, BC until it was given to Craigdarroch Castle by the Government of British Columbia in 1984.
This gift to The Castle Society was reported to its Board of Directors on January 9, 1985.1
