Biography

Mr. Audain was born on July 8, 1903 to Sarah Byrd Audain (nee Dunsmuir) and Guy Mortimer Audain. He served in the British Army and eventually retired to Victoria where he became active in the provincial Social Credit Party and the Alcoholics Anonymous organization. He was also one of the founding members of The Society for the Preservation and Maintenance of Craigdarroch Castle, serving as both Vice President and President of the Society. Mr. Audain was the author of several books on the Dunsmuir family. One of his books, titled "My Borrowed Life", describes the toll that alcohol abuse took on his personal and professional life.
