Narrative
This illustration by noted Victoria architect, civil engineer and surveyor Hermann Otto Tiedemann was published June 13, 1860. Among other notable achievements, Tiedemann designed British Columbia's first Colonial Legislative Buildings, sometimes disparagingly referred to as "The Birdcages".

The image beautifully captures the scene around Victoria's Inner Harbour. This particular print was first owned by noted Victoria architect John Teague. Among numerous other achievements, Teague designed the large house Burleith for James and Laura Dunsmuir. It was built on 20 acres beside Victoria's Gorge Waterway in 1891.
