Ellora (house)

Ellora was the Victoria residence of Sarah Byrd Dunsmuir (Mrs. Guy Audain) and Guy Mortimore Audain. It was designed by Samuel Maclure.

It is named after India's Caves of Ellora. The house was built on one acre of the Pemberton Woods, and is still standing at 555 Foul Bay Road, Victoria. The Audains acquired additional land and the gardens were said to be among the most beautiful in the city. They raised two children in this house, a daughter, Laura and a son, James Guy Payne Audain, the first grandson for James and Laura Dunsmuir.

The house is now used as an extended-care health facility. See: http://www.waysidehousevictoria.org/
