Description
Circular wooden block with a thistle pattern carved into the centre. Around the outside is a zigzag notched pattern intended to leave an imprint in cookie or shortbread dough. The backside is plain except for a maker's location imprint.
Narrative
This not an antique item but the process used to create the mold has not changed from the 19th century. The Scottish thistle design is likely something the Dunsmuir family would have enjoyed.
