Description

One photocopy of a handwritten letter from Margaret Joan Harvey (Mrs. Berkeley Holme-Sumner) to her great nephew Allan James “Jim” Murray Harvey dated June 16, 1952. The letter is copied onto two identically sized sheets of white paper.

Narrative

This letter was written in anticipation of Jim Harvey visiting his great aunt at Reed House in Plaxtol, Kent, England. It is not known whether he visited there. 

History of Use

The whereabouts of the original letter from which this copy was made is unknown. This copy was donated to Craigdarroch Castle by the grandson of Margaret Joan Harvey (Mrs. Berkeley Holme-Sumner). He used it at his home in Scotland until 2023. He may have obtained it from Allan James “Jim” Murray Harvey or perhaps from Robert James Harvey.
