Description
A black and white photograph of Catherine Henrietta Maud Macdonald, Elizabeth Mary Catherine Macdonald and Jean Lilias Patricia Macdonald, all daughters of Joan Olive Bryden (Mrs. Alastair Douglas Macdonald). The girls seem to be approximately 9-12 years old. They are sitting in a horse carriage at the front door of Mt. Adelaide with Mary Jean Dunsmuir (Mrs. Henry Croft) standing nearby, c. 1920. Photographer unknown.
Narrative
This rare photograph depicts the three Macdonald sisters with their mother's aunt, Mary Jean Dunsmuir (Mrs. Henry Croft) at the doorway to the Croft residence named Mt. Adelaide, which was situated at West Bay in Esquimalt, B.C. 
History of Use
This photograph was taken in about 1925 and used at Duntulm, the North Saanich, B.C. farm used by Joan Olice Bryden and her husband Alastair Douglas Macdonald. It was then inherited by their daughter, Catherine Henrietta Maud Macdonald and used by her at her Saltspring Island residence until 1998 when it was inherited by her son who donated it to Craigdarroch Castle in 2008.
