Description
One ferrous metal and glass electric ceiling light fixture suspended from a long chain.
Narrative
This light fixture is similar in scale to the Dunsmuir-era fixture that hung under Craigdarroch's  porte-cochère from 1890 to 1918.

It was acquired in 1969 for display under the ceiling of Craigdarroch's porte-cochère. The acquisition coincided with The Castle Society's restoration of the porte-cochère. That work involved the removal of walls and an elevated floor that had been installed by the federal government's Department of Soldiers Civil Reestablishment in 1919.
History of Use
This fixture was acquired in 19691 for display under the ceiling of Craigdarroch's porte-cochère. Except for a brief period in the late 1990s when it was taken down for re-wiring, the fixture has always been displayed there. Its history of use before 1969 is unknown.

The fixture was donated by Johannes Halee and Johannes Van Wees. They were Victoria, B.C. antique collectors who were supportive of the work of The Castle Society. Mr. Halee served on the Society's Board of Directors in the 1960s.
