One sepia-toned photograph of a woman (Joan Marion "Marion" Dunsmuir) sitting side-saddle on a darkly-coloured horse. She wears riding clothes and a darkly coloured hat. Behind her are the grounds of Hatley Park near the circular drive outside the castle's porte-cochere. On the verso is "Miss Dunsmuir." handwritten in black ink.Narrative
The Dunsmuir family had a large stable and many horses. Numerous photographs were taken of most members of the family beside or sitting or riding on horses.
This particular photograph of Joan Marion (aka "Marion") Dunsmuir was taken on same occasion as Craigdarroch Castle Collection

This photograph was in the possession of its photographer, Ernest Crocker, until shortly before his death in 1968. It was given by him to his friend who later gave it to the donor's late husband. It has been on Vancouver Island since its creation.Date
