One black and white of Craigdarroch Castle in about 1909. Shrubbery is overgrown in the foreground with vines climbing up the Castle building's garden entrance. Awnings are on the library and sitting room windows. On the verso, "Craigdarroch" is hand-written in black ink. "CRAIGDARROCH" is stamped in black ink.Narrative
This photograph captures Craigdarroch in about 1909, perhaps a few months after the death of Mrs. Dunsmuir, but before the June 1909 auction of her house's contents. It shows advanced ivy growth on the building.
This print was made from the same negative used to print Craigdarroch Castle Collection 2007.025, but the cropping is different and shows more of the drive and pathway in the foreground.History of Use
This photograph was in the possession of Mr. Crocker until shortly before his death in 1968. It was given by him to his friend who later gave it to the donor's late husband. It has been on Vancouver Island since its creation.Date
