Narrative
This letter relates to the Coronation of Their Majesties King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra at the Westminster Abbey on August 9, 1902. A new card of admission was required by attendees to replace the first card of admission which was valid for the Coronation scheduled for June 26 but cancelled on June 24th when King Edward VII suffered a severe case of appendicitis.

This letter is part of other ephemeral papers in Craigdarroch’s Primary Collection (part of this accession) that are related to the Coronation of Their Majesties King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra.
History of Use
This letter was used by Berkeley Holme-Sumner, R.N. and Mrs. Margaret Joan Harvey (Mrs. Berkeley Holme-Sumner) in England until it was inherited and used by their daughter Georgiana Holme-Sumner (Mrs. Robert Dunlop Stewart) in England, and later, in Scotland by her son, who donated it to The Castle Society in 2022.
