She is seated out-of-doors on a lightly coloured painted collapsible armchair and wears a vertically striped knitted dress with a dark belt and an unbuttoned sweater. "853" is written in pencil on the verso.

Narrative

This photograph of Margaret Joan Harvey (1871-1952) was likely taken in England or Scotland in about 1942-1944. In 1896, she married Berkeley Holme-Sumner, RN, second son of Arthur Holme-Sumner, Esq., owner of Berkeley Castle, Berkeley, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom.

History of Use

The donor of this photograph is the grandson of Margaret Joan Harvey, the subject of this photograph. He is also a great great grandson of Robert and Joan Olive Dunsmuir. This photograph was used by his family in England and Scotland from about 1944 to 2022 when it was donated to The Castle Society.
