Description
One sepia-toned photograph of Henrietta Maud Dunsmuir (Mrs. Reginal Chaplin) and Jessie Sophia Dunsmuir (Mrs. Richard Musgrave) seated sideways on a ledge, their faces turned toward the camera. They are both wearing skirts and jackets. The photograph is mounted inside a cream-coloured matboard. Written on the bottom in blue ink in the hand of Mrs. Chaplin is "Love from H. Maud Chaplin" and beside it to the right in black ink in the hand of Mrs. Musgrave is "Jessie Musgrave". Nothing is written on the verso other than an indistinct mark which might be an initial.
Narrative
This photograph of sisters Henrietta Maud Dunsmuir and Jessie Sophia Dunsmuir was probably taken in about 1933 at Maud’s house named Glen Lodge on Belmont Avenue in Vancouver, B.C.
History of Use
The donor of this photograph is a great great grandson of Robert and Joan Olive Dunsmuir. This photograph was used by Jessie Sophia Dunsmuir and Henrietta Maud Dunsmuir in Vancouver, B.C. and later in England and Scotland by the donor’s grandparents and parents from about 1933 until it was given to Craigdarroch Castle in 2022.
