Description
A copy of the November, 1955 edition of Western Homes and Living magazine. The front cover shows a photograph of a western-themed domestic recreation room with half-log siding. The back cover shows an advertisement for ply-wood. The magazine contains a four-page illustrated article on the residence of Robin and Kay Dunsmuir.
Narrative
Built in 1954, the so-called “Sea Shell House” was designed for the Dunsmuirs by Victoria architect John Di Castri (1924-2005). Since the deaths of Robin and Kay Dunsmuir, the house has been renovated so extensively that it is no longer recognizable. More information on the house can be seen here:

History of Use

This magazine was first owned by Robin and Kay Dunsmuir and then later by the donor’s mother, who was a niece of Kay Dunsmuir.
