A sepia-toned photograph of a moustached gentleman wearing a white shirt, a necktie, and a single breasted jacket, the photographer's name and address along the bottom section and on the reverse side. On the verso at the top is written in faint pencil: "Alexander Dunsmuir". This inscription is believed to be contemporaneous with the photograph.

This photograph of Alexander Dunsmuir was taken between 1881 and 1885, when Alex was 28-32 years of age.
