One sepia-toned studio photographic portrait of woman (Kathleen Euphemia Dunsmuir) dressed in in a light-coloured dress, a similarly coloured scarf around her neck. On the front of the photograph in in the bottom right corner in red ink "Cannons Hollywood" is written. On the back of the photograph in the center is a Cannons photography address and information stamped in green. Above this 'GRANDMOTHER" is written in pencil and in the top left corner is "P-34."Narrative
Kathleen Euphemia Dunsmuir was a daughter of James and Laura Dunsmuir. She was interested in the film industry and financed and appeared in "The Crimson Paradise", Canada's first talking picture. History of Use
This photograph was used by Kathleen Euphemia Dunsmuir in Hollywood, California and following her death, at Dolaura, the residence of her sister Dola Frances Dunsmuir and later on British Columbia's mainland before returning to Vancouver Island. It was donated to The Castle Society by a grandson of Kathleen Euphemia Dunsmuir in 2007.Date
