Description
An aerial photograph of Victoria, B.C. taken in 1963. The bottom of the image begins approximately at Moss Street between Fort Street and Rockland Avenue and stretches up (east) to Haro Strait and the Cascade Mountains of Washington State. Mt. Baker is clearly depicted at the top. Craigdarroch Castle and its grounds are visible in the lower right quadrant of the image.
Narrative
This photograph is an important record of Craigdarroch’s landscape as it appeared in 1963. Areas of bare ground show how the topography and vegetation appeared before certain later houses were built. 
History of Use
This photographic print was sent to an unknown media outlet in the United States by the British Columbia Government’s Department of Recreation and Conservation in 1963. It was acquired by The Castle Society in 2017 from an EBay vendor in Memphis, TN that specializes in selling vintage newspaper photographs.
