Narrative
Seated at centre is Annie Euphemia Dunsmuir (1868-1952), also known as Effie and Mrs. Somerset Arthur Gough-Calthorpe; the ninth child of Robert and Joan Dunsmuir. On a trip to Dublin in 1900, Effie met Arthur Somerset Gough-Calthorpe, (1864-1937), the second son of the 7th Baron Calthorpe. He was a commander in the Royal Navy. He was 36 years old when they married on February 27, 1900 at St. George's Church, Hanover Square, London.  The photograph was taken at The Bungalow, Hassocks, Sussex, Admiral Calthorpe's elder brother's home.
History of Use
This photograph was taken by Eliza Maria, the mother of Sir Somerset Frederick Gough-Calthorpe and Sir Somerset Arthur Gough-Calthorpe. Sir Somerset Arthur Gough-Calthorpe was the great-uncle to the donor of this photograph, the late Peter Waldo Somerset Gough-Calthorpe, the 10th (and last) Baron Calthorpe. The boy in this in the photograph (Frederick Somerset Gough-Calthorpe) was his father.

The Gough-Calthorpe family kept this photograph in their family home in England until it was donated to Craigdarroch Castle. The donor removed a page of photographs from a family photograph album (which included this photograph) and mailed it to Craigdarroch. The page is signed by Effie G.
