Description
a. A glazed black wooden frame and yellowed mat, the handwritten name "Robert Fort" at the lower left corner. b. A black and white photograph of a young woman (Catherine Henrietta Maud Macdonald) at approximately 20 years of age, her hair short, and wearing a collared white blouse.
Narrative
The photograph depicts Catherine Henrietta Maud Macdonald, later known as Mrs. John Waters. She was a daughter of Joan Olive Bryden (also known as Mrs. Alastair Douglas Macdonald) and Alastair Douglas Macdonald. 

Catherine Henrietta Maud Macdonald had the nickname of "Porky". The name was inspired by the nickname of her older cousin Jock Burns whose nickname was "Beans". Her niece said they were best friends and inseparable - just like pork & beans. 
History of Use
This photograph of Catherine Henrietta Maud Macdonald was taken in about 1934. It was kept at her parent's farmouse, Duntulm in North Saanich, BC until it was given to her sister, Elizabeth Mary Katherine Macdonald of Victoria. Elizabeth Macdonald's son used it at his Saanich house until 2008 when he donated it to Craigdarroch Castle.
