Narrative
Some of these men are almost certainly patients of Craigdarroch Military Hospital.
Craigdarroch Castle was home to veterans of the Great War for only sixteen months, operating from September 1919 to December, 1920. Curative occupations helped the patients regain use of wounded limbs and spirits. Vegetable gardens were tended by patients on the Castle's south lawn terraces, as seen in this photograph, and also alongside the wall bounding the sothern edge of the expansive lawn. The appearance of the plants in this image in comparison with those depicted in 2007.023 taken September 25, 1919 (see:
http://104.198.19.107/Detail/objects/1184) help to date this photograph at approximately September, 1920.
