One glazed terra cotta edging tile, dark brown in colour, the top edge with a twisted rope pattern.
Narrative
The strong likelihood that this tile is part of Craigdarroch's original landscape treatment makes this tile an important part of Craigdarroch's collection.
History of Use
This tile was given to Craigdarroch Castle in 1991 by the owner of the house at 1368 Craigdarroch Road. He told The Castle Society's Acting Executive Director, Bruce Davies, that the tile had been lying in the soil with identical examples behind his house at 1368 Craigdarroch Road. He said they were there when he moved into the house. It is highly probable that the tiles edged a pathway or carpet bed in that area of Craigdarroch's 28-acre estate.
