This pushplate was used at the residence of Emily Ellen Dunsmuir (Mrs. Northing Pinkney Snowden) named Ashnola. When the house was demolished, it was part of the Gorge Road Hospital. The late Catherine McLaren was working there as a nurse, and salvaged this piece and other Ashnola door hardware.  In the 1980's, she became a volunteer at Craigdarroch Castle, and donated the door hardware to The Castle Society.
