Description
One taxidermied Rocky Mountain goat head mounted on a hidden wooden backboard with a metal hanging support, the head slightly turned to its right, the fur white, the nose and horns black, the eyes dark brown coloured glass.
Narrative
The donor of this specimen wished The Castle Society to make a record of the fact that her family had named him Mortimer.
 
History of Use
This mountain goat was shot by the donor's late husband, Desmond Grant Smith in the Province of Alberta's Willmore Wilderness Park in 1970. He was an employee of the Alberta Fish and Wildlife Branch. The taxidermy was completed by Jasper Kaiser who at that time did similar work for the Alberta Provincial Museum. The hidden wooden shield-shaped mount for the head was fabricated by a staff member of the Royal BC Museum in Victoria in 1988.
