Two pieces of 1.3cm dia iron pipe with .3cm wall thickness joined together at a 45 degree bend by a threaded iron elbow 5.2cmL X 2.3cm dia. One end of the pipe is roughly cut and has residual white plaster and yellow paint on it. At the other end is a threaded cast-iron elbow 5.2L X 2.3 dia. Narrative
This pipe was intended to carry coal gas to lighting fixtures. Its original installation inside Craigdarroch Castle makes it an important part of the Castle's collection. History of Use
This circa 1889 iron pipe was installed during the construction of Craigdarroch Castle. It serviced an as yet undetermined room that was painted yellow. Some of that paint remains on one end of the pipe.
The pipe has been in the Castle ever since the house was built. Date
