This cloth was donated to The Castle Society by one or more of the three famed Macdonald sisters, all daughters of Joan Olive Bryden and Alastair Douglas Macdonald. The Castle Society's founding President, the late James K. Nesbitt, received it on behalf of the Society and often remarked to Society employee Bruce Davies that the "cloth of gold" as he called it, had once hung in Armadale, the home of Alastair Macdonald's parents.
