lanternDescription
One electric ceiling-mounted light fixture in the form of a lantern. It has six yellow-coloured clear glass panels with diamond-shaped brass came dividers. There is a faceted sheet-brass base with applied brass acanthus leaves at its ridges. At the base of each glass panel is an affixed brass decorative piece in the form of two c-scrolls supporting a sunflower. At the bottom is a brass tassel. There are six evenly spaced candle-like lights mounted on brass arms curving out from the lantern's sides. Inside the lantern is a single light socket. The top of the lantern has acanthus leaf ridges cresting, with out-turned curving spikes. At the top is a single ring with a linked chain rising to an acanthus-leaf themed canopy. History of Use
This is one of a pair of matching lanterns and four matching sconces purchased from a Vancouver, B.C. antique store on April 24, 1970 by Society President James K. Nesbitt. He stated that they had been used by James and Laura Dunsmuir at Hatley Park.
