Description
A maple desk chair with delicately turned spindle legs, stretchers, and back, the seat and back area in a half-moon shape. The seat is a thick piece of light brown leather with no support beneath it. The leather is tacked onto the maple seat frame.
History of Use
The early history of this chair is unknown. In the late 1970s, it was purchased by Castle Society founder James K. Nesbitt to serve as seating for himself and Society employees while they worked at the Society's visitor reception desk that was situated in the main hall beside Craigdarroch's garden entrance. Following Mr. Nesbitt's death, the chair was accessioned into the museum collection for display in the Castle's period room settings.
