Description
Team photograph of the Victoria College Rugby team 1929-30. Taken in front of the south side of Craigdarroch's veranda. Seventeen men in three rows. All men are wearing athletic wear except for one in a large overcoat. Man at the centre front holds a rugby ball with 1929-30 on it. Photograph is framed in a grey textured matte. Harold Fleming 1014 Government St. Victoria printed on the bottom right of the matte. Verso: Names of each person pictured and list of scores for the matches played that season hand written in ink.
Narrative
This photographic print of the Victoria College men’s rugby team for 1929-30 is in excellent condition. Craigdarroch is visible in the background. The players are identified on the verso. One of them is Paddy Walton, the man that designed and made The Castle Society’s first visitor stanchions in the early 1980’s when his wife, Avis Walton, was installing costumes in some of the period room settings in conjunction with the Society’s Furnishings Committee and the Canadiana Costume Society.
