Description

On black enameled tin box with a lock. The box holds John Cowper Bryden's Estate papers (2014.014.023). "J. BRYDEN TRUST ACCT., and Estate." is painted on the front of the box in cream-coloured letters. There is a handle on each side.

Narrative

This document case came into Craigdarroch's museum collection containing almost 200 financial documents related to assets owned by John Cowper Bryden and his children Robert Dunsmuir Bryden, John William Bryden, and Joan Olive Bryden. 

History of Use

This box was used by John Cowper Bryden, his son John William Bryden, and by his grandson Gerald Robert Bryden. For many years,  it was stored at the Victoria office of real estate agent P.R. Brown (Percival Rideout Brown) who managed property owned by the Brydens.
