towel rack
Description
A wooden free-standing towel stand, the legs, vertical supports, and four horizontal holding bars turned and finished to resemble bamboo.
Narrative
This wooden faux bamboo free-standing towel rack was purchased for Craigdarroch's third floor bathroom (room 308) restoration project.

Faux bamboo furniture was very popular during the mid 1880’s, and it is reasonable to believe that the Dunsmuir family owned some examples. This towel rack compliments the faux bamboo chair also purchased for the bathroom restoration project (see 2011.010). The third floor bathroom (room 308) has limited space for wall-mounted towel bars. The absence of wall-space beside the sink makes a free-standing towel rack for smaller towels appropriate for this room.
