Description
A sterling silver thimble with a wide lower band of pattern consisting of repeating cherubs with swagged garlands of flowers in between them, "Pat. Nov. 21 05" stamped between two cherubs at head-level, the wide crown of the thimble with beehive-like cells allover, "Simons Bros." logo and "Sterling" stamped inside apex.
Narrative
Thimbles are designed to protect the fingers while pushing a needle through fabric. In the Victorian period, thimbles were often highly decorative and used as collectible as well as practical items. 
History of Use
Unknown. The donor was a collector of needlework items and bequeathed this to Craigdarroch as part of a large gift of sewing tools.
