Needle threader. Ivory with 2 metal strips, one on each side of centre. Holes at each end. Needle sizes are marked on the metal strips. 'Rodgers & Sons Inventors' stamped on each end of the metal strips.Narrative
This patented needle threader was designed by Joseph Rodgers and Sons, a company based in Sheffield, England, and known for manufacturing cutlery and silverware. The needle could be threaded by first inserting the eye of the needle in the end of the tool. The thread could then be passed through the wide end of the hole in the side and when the needle was pulled out, it would be threaded. This example has holes at each end for different sizes of needle.
