Description
Black and white photograph of a woman wearing a cloche hat sitting in a wicker porters chair. The woman is wearing a long sleeved blouse, pleated skirt, stockings and ribboned ballet flat style shoes. A man in a suit is sat on the ground with his arms loosely wrapped around his knees in front and to the left of the chair. A porters chair has a back that rises to form a hood and side wings to protect the user against drafts or excessive sunlight. The fabric pattern on the inside of the porters chair is visible in this image.
Narrative
The woman depicted in this photograph is Jessie Muriel "Moulie" Dunsmuir. She is possibly on the terrace of her sister, Dola Dunsmuir Cavendish's house, Dolaura, near the family's Hatley Park property. This photograph was taken on the same day as 2012.007.003.048. The man depicted in this photograph has not yet been identified.
History of Use
This photograph and the Dunsmuir family album that it comes from was passed down through Laura Dunsmuir's daughter Dola Frances Dunsmuir (Mrs. Henry Cavendish) to the family of her sister Kathleen Euphemia Dunsmuir (Mrs. Seldon Humphreys) from whom it was acquired by The Castle Society in 2012.
