One flat-topped Royal Worcester porcelain thimble with old bands at its top and bottom rim. Between these bands is a hand painted group of pansies on the front and a single pansy on the back. Inside the thimble is the maker's mark for Royal Worcester indicating 1902 manufacture.Narrative
Thimbles are designed to protect the fingers and give increased leverage while pushing a needle through fabric. In the Victorian period, thimbles were often highly decorative and used as collectible as well as practical items. History of Use
The donor was a collector of needlework items and left this to Craigdarroch as part of a large bequest of sewing tools. Date
