Description
Black and white photograph of two children sitting on the grass with a dog in between them. The children are dressed in lightweight summer clothes. At the top left of the image, a garden border is visible and in the bottom right, the partial shadow of the photographer is visible. Another person's shadow is also visible on the grass.
Narrative
The children depicted in this photograph are Joan and James Humphreys, the eldest children of Kathleen Dunsmuir Humphreys. The dog may be one of Dola Dunsmuir Cavendish's pets. They are on the grounds at Hatley Park, the estate belonging to their grandmother, Laura Dunsmuir.
History of Use
This photograph and the Dunsmuir family album that it comes from was passed down through Laura Dunsmuir's daughter Dola Frances Dunsmuir (Mrs. Henry Cavendish) to the family of her sister Kathleen Euphemia Dunsmuir (Mrs. Seldon Humphreys) from whom it was acquired by The Castle Society in 2012.
