Description
A sterling silver thimble with a rolled rim. Above the rim is a wide band with a wavy line and trinity knots done in a zig-zag pattern, reminiscent of a sewing machine stitch. The top and upper portion of the sides is covered in knurling.
Narrative
Thimbles are designed to protect the fingers while pushing a needle through fabric. In the Victorian period, thimbles were often highly decorative and used as collectible as well as practical items. 
History of Use
The donor was a collector of needlework items and gave this to Craigdarroch as part of a large bequest of sewing tools.
