Description
A cast brass canoe-shaped pincushion with patinated copper finish, the interior of the canoe filled with an undetermined soft stuffing capped with red velvet, the base of the pincushion in the form of turbulent water supporting the canoe.
Narrative
Themed pincushions were often used by amateur sewers during the 19th Century. Some people liked to collect them. The Castle Society's museum collection includes a wide variety of them.
