Description
A brass thimble with a raised decorated rim and a wide band of flowers above that. The top and upper portion of the sides are covered in knurling.
Narrative
Thimbles are designed to protect the fingers while pushing a needle through fabric. In the Victorian period, thimbles were often highly decorative and used as collectible as well as practical items. 
History of Use
The donor was a collector of needlework items and bequeathed this to Craigdarroch as part of a large gift of sewing tools.
