They are standing in a clearing surrounded by trees and looking at a large sawn log with an axe handle pointing towards Laura. Laura is holding a cane in her right hand, the tip of which is resting on the log. They are both slightly smiling.
Narrative
Laura and the worker are on the property of the Dunsmuirs' Cowichan River fishing lodge. 
History of Use
This photograph and the Dunsmuir family album that it comes from was passed down through Laura Dunsmuir's daughter Dola Frances Dunsmuir (Mrs. Henry Cavendish) to the family of her sister Kathleen Euphemia Dunsmuir (Mrs. Seldon Humphreys) from whom it was acquired by The Castle Society in 2012.
