One porcelain sink. It is white in colour with a clear glossy glaze except under the rim which is unglazed. It is oval in shape with a rim that is 2.5cmW X 1 cm thick. The inside is white with three gold-coloured thin horizontal lines equally spaced. The first line is 3.5cm below the rim. The centre bottom has a drain hole 10cm in diameter. On the front exterior is a light brown coloured maker's mark fired onto the sink. It consists of the coat of arms of the United Kingdom with the manufacturer's name and address, series number and style name. From outside to inside, the mark reads (in upper-case font): "MANUFACTURED FOR THE J.L. MOTT IRON-WORKS EXCLUSIVELY NEW YORK - BROWN WESTHEAD MOORE & CO - CAULDON PLACE STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND - BY ROYAL APPOINTMENT - POTTERS TO HER MAJESTY DIEU ET MON DROIT CAULDON 2760"Narrative
This sink was designed to be attached with clips to the underside of a horizonal slab of stone or wood.
This sink was collected for display in the Dunsmuir-era bathroom on Craigdarroch's third floor.History of Use
This sink was purchased from a dealer of Victorian plumbing fixtures in Los Angeles, California in 2005. It's history of use is not known. Date
