Description
An English drum-shaped silver teapot profusely stamped and engraved with decorative flourishes including acanthus leaves, cross-hatching, and sea-serpents, the bottom bearing hallmarks for manufacture by John Hampson and John Price in York in 1781
History of Use
This teapot was once owned by Guy Mortimer Audain and Sarah Byrd Audain (nee Dunsmuir). It was next used by their son, James Guy Payne Audain, and then by his son, Michael James Audain, who donated it to The Castle Society. Its history of use before circa 1890 is not known.
