Description
One large oval-shaped platter, the centre with a 5cmW flat lip, an almost flat base, the top a white background with a vibrantly coloured hand-painted design overglazed in a smooth clear gloss finish, the centre design dominated by a twisting vertical tree branch covered with large colourful flowers, sitting on the branch an adult male pheasant with blue head and wings, a long brown tail and neck with a grey body, the platter's top lip with a repeating design of a single pink flower with green leaves and a single cluster of a dark pink flowers with green leaves with an orange flower bud and green leaves on each side, the platter's bordering edge with a 3cmW band of a single repeating design of a dome with a vertical line inside and a square with single dot, the maker's marks on the verso in black: "WHEILDON WARE" and "SEMI-PORCELAIN 'PHEASANT' F. WINKLE & Co ENGLAND" and the brown inscription "7085 12".
