floor mirrorDescription
This vertically oriented wood framed mirror swivels on its integrated four-legged stand, a turned stretcher joining the two sets of legs, the foot of each leg with a brass caster, the top centre of the mirror a carved shield surrounded by scrolled acanthus leaf carvings. The frame attaches to upright wooden supports at each side. Narrative
This circa 1870 American black walnut mirror was acquired for display in Craigdarroch's room 302, which is presented to museum visitors as the bedroom possibly occupied by Annie Euphemia Dunsmuir (1868-1952), also known as Effie Dunsmuir. The mirror's age and style is compatible with the American black walnut bedroom suite of furniture also acquired for this purpose. History of Use
The Castle Society purchased the mirror from an antique dealer in Southampton, Massachusetts in 2002. Its history of use is unknown. Date
