An unused coloured photographic postcard of Craigdarroch Castle on a clear day from the southwest corner of the south lawn showing Craigdarroch's south and west facades, the south lawn dry and brown, the Dunsmuir-era stone steps to the lawn missing and replaced with a single sloping driveway from the parking lot to the lawn, one flagpole on the main west gable finial, another on the main south gable finial, a dark angled pole projecting from the dance hall's south balcony, fire escapes visible on bot facades, the verso marked in blue machine-printed text "POST CARD" and "Address" and "Craigdarroch Castle - Once Home of Lord Dunsmuir, Victoria, B.C."Narrative
The two flagpoles and fire escapes are vestiges of the Castle's use for Craigdarroch Military Hospital (1919-1921). The angled pole projecting from the dance hall's south balcony is probably support for antennae used when CKDA radio had a transmitter located at this location.
When this photograph was taken, Craigdarroch was headquarters of the Greater Victoria School District. History of Use
