One framed official government extract of an entry in an "OLD PAROCHIAL REGISTER". The cream-coloured paper document consists of black and red printing and black typewriting. There are 21 horizontal lines in a thin bordered box. Typed on the first four lines is, "1st October 1847, DUNSMORE Robert Dunsmore in the parish of Riccarton & Joanna White in East George Street after proclamation were married this day by The Revd. Mr. Campbell'. Across the top, above the box, is the title of the entry. Along the bottom section is the seal of the registry office pressed onto the paper. The document is framed in a modern, plain black wooden frame. Narrative
This framed extract from an old Scottish Parochial Register was acquired by The Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society to aid in the understanding and presentation of the Dunsmuir family story at Craigdarroch Castle. It was one of many such framed displays of Dunsmuir history that were exhibited in Craigdarroch during that time.History of Use
The document in this display was donated to The Castle Society by research volunteer Pert C. Scott in 1977. It was subsequently framed under the direction of Society President James K. Nesbitt. It hung in Craigdarroch's dining room until about 1985 when the decision was taken to present the dining room as it might have appeared during the time that Mrs. Dunsmuir lived in the Castle (1890-1908).
