The Gold Stripe was a periodical published in Vancouver, B.C. “for the benefit of The Amputation Club of B.C.” The intended readership was primarily the Canadian veterans of the Great War residing in B.C. There were only three issues produced, the first in late 1918 and the last (No. 3), in late 1919. Issue No.3 has an article on the new Craigdarroch Military Hospital. Copies of The Gold Stripe magazine were almost certainly kept in the patients’ library and other rooms inside Craigdarroch Military Hospital. In fact, on the subject of literature at Craigdarroch Military Hospital, issue no. 3 of The Gold Stripe states on page 127: “Friends keep the tables of the reading-room and the shelves of the library well stocked with magazines, papers and books…”.Date
