This is a machine-printed folded paper indenture dated December 10, 1889 (a) and a Statutory Declaration by John Cowper Bryden on white paper with an affixed red paper seal, the form signed by Notary Public, A.H. Horne.

Narrative

This document is related land acquired for “Chandler’s Addition to Port Angeles”, a land acquisition made in anticipation of the construction of a new railway. The document appoints a broker to sell lots within the newly-acquired parcel of land. It appoints William Sutton Chandler as trustee and treasurer. This document is related to 2014.014.023.015 & 2014.014.023.016.

History of Use

This document was acquired by The Castle Society from descendants of John Cowper Bryden and Elizabeth Hamilton Bryden (nee Dunsmuir). The family stored this with other documents in Nanaimo, Victoria, Royston, and Courtney, Vancouver Island.
