(bottom) above the text "A. Edwards, Publisher, Victoria, B.C.", the verso printed with a lined square for a stamp with "stamp should be affixed here" and at top centre, PRIVATE POST CARD", the left side with "this space may be used for correspondence" and on the right side "this space for address only" the publisher, "A. Narrative
This postcard was produced as a tourist souvenir when Mrs. Joan Olive Dunsmuir was living in Craigdarroch. During the last two years of her life, her son Hon. James Dunsmuir lived in Government House as British Columbia's eighth Lieutenant Governor. Despite living on adjoining properties separated only by a public roadway, they communicated only through their lawyers. This postcard is a poignant visual reminder of their estrangement.
History of Use
The Castle Society purchased this postcard from an EBay seller in New Burnswick. Its history of use is unknown.
