Description
A lined diary type book with pencil attached.
Narrative
This journal contains Laura Mary Dunsmuir's intimate thoughts, a description of her activities, an assemblage of family photographs, pressed flowers, used dance cards, and old cigarette butts with associated stories. As a whole, the journal nicely encapsulates the life of a young, affluent Dunsmuir granddaughter during the period that Joan Dunsmuir lived at Craigdarroch.
History of Use
This journal was created by Laura May Dunsmuir while attending Trafalgar Institute in Montreal in 1898-99.

This book was given to The Castle Society in 2008 while Curator Bruce Davies was visiting the donor’s home in Staplefield, UK. The donor was the granddaughter of Laura Mary Dunsmuir and Sir Arthur Bromley. Laura Mary Dunsmuir was a daughter of James and Laura Dunsmuir and hence a granddaughter of Joan and Robert Dunsmuir.
